Playing the quarterback position in football is tough. You’re expected to be a leader and to be in control of the game.Trying to do this as a sophomore in high school can be near impossible, but that is what Nate Price, the starting quarterback for the Apaches, set out to do on August 21.
Winning zero games in two years can make a team want to just quit playing, but the team, led by Price, managed to secure their first win in two years with a 21-14 victory over the Taylor Titans.
Price led the team in scoring with two touchdowns. He also had 66 yards on 22 carries and was four for ten for 38 passing yards.Price commented that the only thing going through his mind at the time of his touchdowns was the score of the game.
The production from the team didn’t come easy. The football team prepared a lot for this season over the summer. From lifting and having 6 a.m. practices for the quarterbacks and receivers, to seven-on-seven games, to two a-days in the first two weeks of August; the team came ready to play.
Commenting on his leadership role on the team, Nate said, “I don’t feel like I have a important a role as the captains of the team, but now I feel sort of pressured since we’re now expected to win games.”
Nate was proud to be part of the team that brought Wabash its first victory in two years.Playing starting quarterback and leading the team in scoring, made it even better.
